Alicia McVey and her husband, Jonathan, moved to San Juan Island in 2022, drawn by the beauty of the islands after visiting for over 20 years. With backgrounds in creative design, they’ve found inspiration in this unique community and feel a deep responsibility to contribute to its well-being.
In 2007, Alicia co-founded Swift, a strategic creative agency in Portland, Oregon. At Swift, she was proud to help foster gender diversity in a traditionally male-dominated industry, leading a team with 65% women in leadership roles. After Swift was acquired, Alicia shifted her focus to supporting cause-driven organizations, using her expertise to promote positive change for people and the planet.
Since moving to the island, Alicia and Jonathan have dedicated themselves to volunteering with local nonprofits, including APS-FH, Friends of the San Juans, and the San Juan Community Home Trust. For Alicia, pets are a source of joy and compassion, and she believes that having dogs and cats as part of the family fosters kindness and connection.
