Bequests and Planned Giving
A bequest to Animal Protection Society of Friday Harbor will ensure the gift of life for abused and abandoned animals. Please include the work of APS in your will.
There are many options for planned giving that can provide you with tax benefits while they help the animals. Through a planned gift, you may be able to increase your current income or provide additional retirement income, while reducing income tax and estate taxes. Some types of gifts eliminate estate taxes, while others greatly reduce the amount of tax you are responsible for during your lifetime. We’ve listed a few options below to explore.
• Bequests through your will
• Charitable Gift Annuities: Provide numerous tax benefits to you, and you are guaranteed income for the rest of your life
• Life Insurance Gifts: Make APS the owner and beneficiary of a life insurance policy
• Retirement Plans: Donate your interest in an IRA or other qualified savings plan

Loving Legacy Program
APS is making a difference!
APS-FH provides a much-needed safety net for homeless, abused, injured and lost animals; often rescuing them from cruel and neglectful situations or re-homing them with grateful owners. Great care is taken to find new, responsible, “Forever” homes for the animals in our care. Through the support of our wonderful donors we are often able to reach out to other shelters and rescue groups and transport animals in need here, where we care for them and ensure that loving
homes are found. Leaving a planned gift will help to provide long term support for our life-saving programs. Through your caring and thoughtful planning, you will allow us to help hundreds of animals every year.
Why was the Loving Legacy Club Created?
The Loving Legacy Club was created to honor and recognize those who have chosen to include a gift to APS-FH in their estate plans.

We hope you’ll consider becoming a member of the Loving Legacy Club.
As a member, your name will be engraved on a plaque proudly displayed in the shelter lobby. You will also receive an invitation to an annual Loving Legacy Club appreciation dinner. Loving Legacy Club members have included APS-FH in their estate plans, making a commitment to the future care of homeless animals in our community.
How to join the Club
Membership is easy! No immediate donation is necessary. You simply need to name The Animal Protection Society of Friday Harbor as beneficiary in your will, trust, insurance policy, donor advised fund or foundation. You may make your gift anonymous or, with your permission, we can publicly acknowledge your gift to the animals.
