I volunteer because I believe in the mission of the Animal Protection Society, and I want to support the mission. We call on our domesticated friends to enrich our lives, and we in turn must ensure that the vulnerable ones are protected.
I went to the old shelter one day to inquire about volunteering. I was asked, probably by Jan if I remember correctly, what it is that I was interested in doing. I said, “Well, anything you need, but if you have some office-type work that no one else wants to do, I can probably help with that too. I could do text documents or spreadsheets.” I was asked, “How do you feel about adding figures?” I said “OK” and have been doing King’s receipts ever since, with a bit of cleaning (pre-COVID) as needed.
