Poison Control
The following numbers are available if you suspect your pet has ingested a potentially poisonous substance. Consultation fees may apply and can be up to $100. Be sure to write down your pet’s case number in case you need to follow up or if the call is disconnected.

Off Island Resources
Sometimes the quickest way to get emergency care for a pet in crisis is to get on the next ferry off island and visit a Pet Emergency Center. The following are available 24 hours and/or 7 days a week. Call them directly for guidance.

First Aid Kit Supplies
A fully equipped household first aid kit contains almost all of the supplies you may need for your
pets. A simple first aid kit for your pets should include these items in a waterproof
container:
- Latex (or hypoallergenic material) gloves – 2 pair Lg
- Gauze sponges ( a variety of sizes)
- Gauze roll, 2-inch width
- Elastic cling bandage (vet wrap)
- Material to make a splint
- Adhesive tape, hypoallergenic
- Non-adherent sterile pads
- Small scissors
- Tweezers
- Compact emergency “blanket”
- Water-based sterile lubricant
- Rubbing alcohol 4oz
- Topical antibiotic ointment (Neosporin)
- Cotton-tipped swabs – 10 ct
- Instant cold pack
- Epsom salts – Sandwich ziplock
- Baby-dose syringe or eye dropper
- Sterile saline wash 4oz
- Tongue depressors – 5 ct
- Glucose paste or syrup 1-2oz
- Styptic powder – 1oz?
- List of emergency phone numbers
- Petroleum jelly
- Penlight with batteries (AA)
- Thermometer
- Ace Bandage
- Hibicleanse (Chlorhex Scrub) 4oz
- Notepad/Pen
- Towel
- Muzzle
- Grooming clippers or safety razor
- Nylon leash
- Clean cloth
- Syringes 3cc & 20cc
Should have, but need to be approved by your veterinarian:
- Diphenhydramine (Benadryl 25mg), if approved by your veterinarian
- Hydrogen peroxide (3 percent), if approved by your veterinarian
