February is National Spay & Neuter Awareness Month!
During the month of February we hold in-person events to share information about APS-FH programs and services and to raise funds that help support the shelter and it’s spay & neuter programs.

At APS-FH, we’re passionate about spay & neuter because it:
- Ensures every adopted pet is healthy, happy, and ready for their forever home.
- Provides low-cost spay/neuter services to families in need, along with preventative care.
- Supports our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, helping manage the island’s stray population.
These services keep pets healthy and prevent overcrowding—but we can’t do it without your support!
Did you know? Medical care for our shelter animals costs over $93,000 annually, including:
- $60,000 for our dedicated medical team
- $6,553 in medical supplies
- $16,746 in medications
- $600 for microchips—so pets never lose their way home!
You can help provide lifesaving spay/neuter services for island pets by donating online anytime, in-person at Treasure Hounds Thursday–Sunday from 11am-4pm, or at the Shelter Tuesday–Sunday from 11am-4pm.
We’ll see you in February 2026 for our campaign “For the Love of Island Pets”, together we can keep island pets healthy and safe.
