Hello,
My name is Jan Murphy and I’m the shelter manager at The Animal Protection Society of Friday Harbor. Welcome to our new and improved website! I’ll be writing a blog occasionally for this site to talk about things going on around the shelter and to pass along information about the wonderful world of pet ownership and animal rescue.
If you’ve been to our little animal shelter you’ll know that each and every animal in our care is treated like royalty! We take our jobs seriously and take great pride in making sure that every dog, cat, puppy and kitten is treated with love and respect, gets appropriate veterinary care and a healthy, wholesome diet. We are fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers who help with dog walking, cat cuddling, cage and kennel cleaning, transportation to and from the vet and a wide range of other duties. In other words, our shelter is much more than just an animal shelter! APS-FH is a safe haven for homeless pets who need a second, or sometimes third or even fourth chance at finding a responsible, loving home. We love match-making and we’re pretty good at it!
I’d like to invite anyone reading this blog to visit our animal shelter and meet some of the many pets in our care. Shelter staff is happy to give you a tour of our facility and answer any questions you may have. Of course, in the interest of transparency, be advised you may fall in love many times during your visit!
