The Medical Fund is funding made possible by a grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization to help low-income pet owners access regular and specialty veterinary care and prescriptions for their senior dogs by providing up to $1000 per dog (this is a limited fund and may not always be available), paid directly to vet clinics and vet hospitals. We collaborate with various local human service organizations that refer clients to our program and help determine low-income eligibility. To receive Grey Muzzle Medical Fund assistance, you must be a current resident of San Juan County and qualify as a low-income household per the guidelines below:

Please email the following information to Cristin Felso at director@apsfh.com:
If application assistance is needed, please call the shelter at (360) 378-2158, and we can help.

1. verify that you meet the low-income threshold – proof of income may be requested unless you apply through one of our local service organization partners.
2. a statement (max. 3 sentences) as to why you need help with the anticipated medical care for your senior dog – there must be an urgent need for care.
3. verify that the pet has a good prognosis after treatment is provided.
4. provide a treatment estimate from a local vet clinic or animal hospital, on their letterhead or form (range of funds requested $50-$1000).
5. provide a minimum of two high resolution photos of the pet and its current condition.

Your Obligation

Before payment will be issued, you must provide a final pet update and pictures after treatment so we can share with the Grey Muzzle Organization and donors.
